Directory

Welcome to the North East Valley Community Directory - a website directory of businesses and community organisations in the Northern end of Dunedin city.  This directory serves as a free public resource that empowers community engagement, building connections across our corner of the earth consisting of Opoho, Normanby, Upper Junction, Liberton, Pine Hill, Dalmore, and of course, North East Valley.

How to use the directory: Browse through all the alphabetically organised listings page by page, or narrow your search by clicking on one of the below categories. If looking for a specific business or organisation, type its exact name into the provided search field.

How to be a part of the directory: Hover over the Directory tab in the main menu at the top of this page. Click on the drop-down menu item Log-in/Sign up. Fill in the form, then submit your details. A Valley Project staff member will follow up as soon as they can. Or simply click here to take you directly to the form.

Nau mai, haere mai and welcome to Ōpoho Playcentre. Playcentre is unique.

At Ōpoho Playcentre, both children and their whānau attend. Children get the opportunity to learn and explore in a fun and safe environment. The curiosity and creativity of our tamariki are nurtured in a way that allows them to learn about themselves and their world through play. Your child will be given a chance to explore, create, climb, read, sing, experiment, play music, wear costumes, have their face painted (or do it themselves!), garden, do carpentry with real tools, bake and cook, build sandcastles, swing, slide, dance, spend time in nature, and get messy if they want to. The activities change every day.

We value and affirm parents and whānau as the first and best educators of their children. Parents all bring different skills, interests, and cultural backgrounds to add to the rich learning environment. We welcome families with children aged 0 – 6 years. Mixed-age play allows your children to engage with those older and younger than themselves. Pre-schoolers learn how to communicate, share and negotiate with empathy for their younger peers. Older children, from 2.5 years and once happy with Ōpoho Playcentre routines, can be dropped off.

At Ōpoho Playcentre, parents, children, and whānau learn together, forming lifelong friendships. We invite you to come learn, laugh, play and grow with us. You get three free visits. You’re welcome anytime during the year.

Children under 1 year old attend for free. We are conveniently located away from the road down a driveway, surrounded by native bush. We’d love to meet you and your family!
Proudly brought to you by the Valley Project
